Presbyterian Beliefs

Presbyterians begin with the beliefs of churches linked to the Protestant reformation with an emphasis on active, shared leadership by the women and men in the Presbyterian congregations and clergy.

Presbyterians believe:

• God is the supreme authority throughout the universe.
• Our knowledge of God and God's purpose for the world comes from the Bible, especially through the life of Jesus Christ.
• The hope and new way of life that Jesus shows us is God's gracious, generous gift - and is not the result of our accomplishments.
• It is everyone's job - congregation and clergy - to share Christ's hope, forgiveness, and love with the whole world.
